The Best Wired Backup Cameras for RVs

We’re starting off with the wired-boys. Sure, they may lack the convenient flair of their wireless, showboating cousins.

But they’re stable. Reliable! They have your back even on the most questionable of backroads.

And really, isn’t that all that you want from an RV backup camera?

Best Wired Overall

1. TadiBrothers 1080P Rear-View System for RVs with 3 AHD Cameras and Backup Monitor

Best Overall Wired RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers 1080P Rear-View System for RVs with 3 AHD Cameras and Backup Monitor
  •  Screen Size: 7”
  •   Number of Cameras: 3

Let’s kick things off with the best wired backup camera for RVs. The Tadi Brothers 1080P Rear-View System is a real game-changer. It delivers both immaculate clarity and reliability at a price point that matches such quality. Honestly, it’s just a fantastic gadget for RVing in all categories!

What makes this unit stand out is its Advanced HD (AHD) technology. These high-end optics provide sharper, high-definition images even in extreme weather or poor lighting. It’s an absolute godsend for RVers who are expecting to brave all kinds of climates.

But this all-season awesomeness only continues with the camera’s design! Sporting durable, waterproof cameras, this system is built to withstand heavy rain, dust, and debris alike. This bulletproof build is even topped off with military-grade night vision. It’s an outdoor camera equipped for any crisis!

The big downside of the product is the system’s inherent design. Since it’s a wired system, installation can take a bit of figuring out. And you’ll be sifting through and organizing all those cords (so get your zip ties ready). Of course, the trade-off is that the stability and strength of a wired connection far surpass any wireless alternatives.

Ultimately, this is the all-around heavy hitter for any RVer who would prefer a wired backup camera. It’s not cheap, but it’s far from being as expensive as camera systems can run. And, it’s such a rugged and robust unit that you’re guaranteed complete peace of mind no matter your park-up.

Best Wired Splurge

2. TadiBrothers Heavy Duty 3 Camera Rear-View System with Sensors

Best Premium Wired RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers Heavy Duty 3 Camera Rear-View System with Sensors
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 3 (up to 4 possible)

If the best value package wasn’t enough for you, try an absolute EXCESS of premium features! The Tadi Brothers Heavy Duty System is the best choice for road-warriors who demand more than just basic protection and visuals.

The big upgrade here over the 1080P three-cam system is the addition of built-in proximity sensors. These sensors take your Spidey-Vision to Spidey-Senses! They detect obstacles around your RV when in movement and provide audible alerts as you approach them. This is a very nice bonus over a simple camera setup for busy and chaotic campgrounds.

On top of that, this system is built to last. I know the last one was, but this one is really built to last. The heavy-duty camera casings are designed to endure all manner of conditions and would likely survive a small explosion. Additionally, the water and weatherproofing have been further upgraded alongside added shock resistance.

So heavy-duty really is the name of the game here! If you’re a big gan of traveling and living in an RV in winter climates, this is the pick for you. The drawback is the price of entry for something so beefed up on bonuses. This unit easily tops the list as the most expensive backup camera, and that’s before adding on the optional fourth camera for full 360-degree vision.

But that’s the price you pay for iron-clad insurance, valiant road-warrior! If the best of the best is too best for you, go for the previous Tadi Brothers AHD System. Otherwise, for a clairvoyant level of coverage, this is the gear for you.

Best Wired Budget

3. eRapta ERT01 Car Rearview Camera

Best Budget Wired RV Backup Camera Product Image: eRapta ERT01 Car Rearview Camera
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 4

Conversely, try a budget wired model instead! Sitting at a very different end of the pricing spectrum, the eRapta ERT01 offers serious bang for your buck. And without cutting the essential corners. If anything, you get more corners!

The eRapta features FOUR cameras out of the box. This gives you the coveted full 360 degrees of coverage (yeehaw no blind spot). Plus, its wide-angle 170-degree rear camera actually outclasses the 120-degree field of view of the Tadi Brothers AHD system.

Did you think eRapta might have skimped on the features instead then? Well, you’d be wrong!

The eRapta camera’s IP69 waterproof rating ensures you’re good to go in any downpour. Plus there are night vision capabilities and LED lights surrounding the lens to maintain clear views even in low-light conditions.

So what is the drawback to this otherwise stellar budget product? Well, it’s a budget product. The quality just feels cheaper than the Tadi Brothers units, and I doubt you’re likely to get as much life from the camera either. Even the lower resolution screen, while fine for reversing, just can’t match the crystal-clear definition picture of the premium TadiBrothers units.

Honestly, though, that’s a pretty minor gripe for a product less than a quarter of those models’ prices! You get what you pay for… In the case of the eRapta, you get an RVload more!

It’s not the best RV backup camera on the market, but it’s a damn good deal. It’s a great gift for any RVer, and it’s a great gift to yourself. If you’re not ready to take the plunge on a pixel-perfect experience and all the pennies that requires, this is the perfect cheap alternative for you.

Best Wired Mid-Range

4. TadiBrothers Heavy Duty Wired 1080p AHD Observation Camera System

Best Mid-Range Wired RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers Heavy Duty Wired 1080p AHD Observation Camera System
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 1 (up to 4 possible)

If budget wasn’t the sweet spot, how about mid-range? This last wired unit from TadiBrothers skirts the sweet spot of affordability and feature-loaded with nimble grace. There’s even the option to upgrade the system later down the line!

Firstly, we’re back to that tantalizing 1080p AHD resolution. This means clear visuals regardless of whether it’s day or night driving. It’s this attention to clarity that gives the Observation System its name!

Another feature worth noting is the built-in microphone. This is pretty cool too even at a mid-level buy because none of the three previous systems share this feature. This on-board mic provides audio feedback of what’s happening behind the RV – this is super handy! Clear visuals PLUS clear audio make this system feel like a premium upgrade without the premium price tag.

Sadly, corners must be cut somewhere. The downside of this product is that it’s unfortunately a one-camera system out of the box. It is built to accommodate up to four cameras total for a full 360-degree view.

But at the base price, it’s a more limited 120-degree, rear-only field of view. While the option to upgrade the camera setup is appreciated, that’s still an expensive option. Compared to other solutions, the restricted view, even at mid-tier pricing, feels a bit stingy.

But mid-range problems require mid-range solutions! And realistically, for what’s on offer plus the ability to upgrade later down the line, this is a terrific middle-of-the-pack deal. Buy in peace knowing that your RV’s bumper will remain uncrumpled by stray stumps and poorly placed bollards for years to come.

The Best Wireless Backup Cameras for RVs

You’re gonna see good ol’ TadiBrothers dominate the list from here on out. But it’s with good reason!

They’re great at what they do. And what they do is top-tier vehicular AV systems and equipment. (And other various RV must-haves for safety.)

You’re in their niche now, motor-homie. Here comes the wireless choices.

Best Wireless Overall

5. TadiBrothers Backup Camera 1080P

Best Overall Wireless RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers Backup Camera 1080P
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 1 (up to 4 possible)

So now, needing no introductions, TadiBrothers sweeps the top spot in the wireless category too. This 300-foot range, 1080P system once again delivers their signature attention to quality.

The first reason why is that crispy sharp 1080P screen. Running at high-definition acuity AND with audio feedback, this dual functionality even gives the Observation System a run for its money. All without the pesky wiring!

It comes packaged as a one-camera system. However, there is the option to upgrade to four total, and the included camera is a nice and thick 170-degree model as well. Really though, the biggest boon and bummer of the system is its wireless setup.

It’s got that delicious range of 300 feet, perfect for anyone who unloads their home. Moreover, its digital wireless connection has been bolstered for smooth, interference-free signal, even in areas with heavy Wi-Fi activity.

But that wireless is the tricky spot. You’re paying more than for the Observation System but for a less reliable system overall. Even the sexiest of wireless cameras still experience signal loss on occasion, especially during the trials and tribulations of RVLife.

But that’s the price you pay for a cable-free existence! This unit’s digitally-reinforced signal and robust antenna design minimize these issues compared to other wireless models. It’s strikingly good value, even at a higher price when compared to the mid-range wired model.

Best Wireless Splurge

6. TadiBrothers Digital Wireless Rear View System with 1 RV Camera and Two Side Cameras

Best Premium Wireless RV Backup Camera Product Image: adiBrothers Digital Wireless Rear View System with 1 RV Camera and Two Side Cameras
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 3

Or, for the hitching-your-home-life, try this 300-feet, multi-camera system from TadiBrothers. As the luxury choice of wireless setup, the Rear and Side-View RV System is about as premium as backup cameras come. It’s likely overkill for many different types of RVs, but for big, buxom Class As and other models, this might be just what you need!

The big selling point here is its three-camera system. Specifically, you’re getting…

  • One rear-view camera (170-degrees)
  • Two side cameras (120-degrees each)
  • Support for a fourth camera (e.g. for the front view)

This means you have nearly full coverage out of the box with comprehensive coverage easily attainable!

Otherwise, it’s a premium system with premium features. Weather and waterproof… Night vision and low-light proficiency… Splitscreen viewing on its sharp 7” screen… It’s got features galore!

Much like the previous wireless unit, it’s got a sturdy signal capacity. The range can exceed 300 feet, offers a great digital connection, and is very well-equipped to fend off the looming threat of signal drops.

But the price is the big question to ask here. This is a lot to pay for an RV backup cam system. And it’s only more if you upgrade to the bonus front camera. There is always the option of a cheaper wired system without the potential unreliability of wireless gadgets.

But facts be damned! This system is style. If the signal is good, which it’s nearly always gonna be, your RV is in the safest (and most convenient!) hands possible. Alternatively, you can always go with the super cheap, super effective route…

Best Wireless Budget

7. TadiBrothers iPhone Backup Camera

Best Budget Wireless RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers iPhone Backup Camera
  • Screen Size: N/A (Uses phone screen)
  • Number of Cameras: 1 (up to 4 possible)

Now we’re talking—here’s something more aligned with the best RV accessories than a full camera system! The Tad-Bros bring you another stellar solution in an innovative package. Keep those prices down and use your phone instead of a pricey monitor, like any true road-warrior of the digital age!

Affordable and no-frills the TadiBrothers iPhone Backup Camera is an excellent budget pick. This camera wirelessly connects to your iPhone (or iPad or iPod), eliminating the need for an additional monitor. Save money, save on dashboard real estate, hang more trinkets – not extra hardware!

As you’d hope, it’s super easy to set up. Connecting the camera to your phone is straightforward, and the companion app offers intuitive controls to manage it all. The minimal installation and effort make this a quick, budget-friendly solution.

However, the biggest drawback is naturally the system’s reliance on your phone’s screen. New phone screens are pretty tasty, not gonna lie, but they still can’t beat a dedicated monitor. Plus using your phone with your backup camera, even charging needs aside, might have other complications on long hauls.

But the iPhone Backup Camera isn’t about being a perfect solution. It’s about being a cheap solution that steals your heart through simplicity. It’s a very effective entry-level option for anyone wanting a simple wireless solution to their backup woes without the hefty price tag.

Best for Fifth Wheels

8. TadiBrothers 5th wheel Digital Wireless Backup System

Best RV Backup Camera for Fifth Wheels Product Image: TadiBrothers 5th wheel Digital Wireless Backup System
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 1 (up to 4 possible)

Fifth-wheel trailers present unique challenges when it comes to reversing and maneuvering. To meet those challenges head-on, TadiBrothers offers a 5th Wheel Wireless Backup Camera. Its long-range digital wireless signal is perfectly suited for fifth wheels where the extra length can cause interference with weaker systems.

A big thing I like about this system is how it clips over your rearview mirror. When the system is on, it functions as a magic screen of foresight. When it’s off, though, it’s just a golden oldie mirror in all its functional glory. This dual functionality keeps your dashboard clutter-free while offering a clever (and safe!) solution.

There’s room to program up to four cameras with this system. But sadly, the package only comes with the rear-view camera. This does make the steep price a bit of a pill to swallow compared to the other wireless TadiBrothers systems. And that’s even when you factor in this unit’s other top-shelf features like night vision.

But if you’re the proud owner of any top-shelf fifth-wheel RV models, then you need a top-shelf fifth-wheel-ready backup camera to match! Extra size calls for extra solutions, and this is a good one for you! Roam, hitch, and un-hitch all the while knowing your fifth wheel is in good hands. However, I would strongly suggest considering shelling out for those side cameras too.

Best Solar Powered

9. TadiBrothers Magnetic Based 7-inch Solar Powered Digital Wireless RV Camera System

Best Solar-Powered RV Backup Camera Product Image: TadiBrothers Magnetic Based 7-inch Solar Powered Digital Wireless RV Camera System
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 1

All this talk of wireless cameras and we haven’t touched on battery life. Well, truth be told, it’s just a given if you’re a fan of wireless tech. But lo and behold, the Tad-Meisters have gone and solved another stray issue. Innovation!

For RVers looking to go green and ease their charging headaches, the TadiBrothers Solar Camera System is a fantastic option. It’s wireless. It’s magnetic! But the defining feature here is the solar-powered cam.

This eliminates the need for messy wiring and constant recharging. Just stick it on (literally – it’s magnetic!), let the sun do its work, and enjoy the system’s eco-approved convenience. Worst case scenario, there’s a backup rechargeable battery system built in as well.

But the downside is that solar power is fantastic, not foolproof. In extended periods of cloudy weather or shady campsite stays, you may not get the joules you need. So it’s up to you whether this feature is worth the extra cash all on a one-camera system.

But damn it has magnetism! That stick-on camera makes installation and re-installation a lightning-fast process, particularly if you have multiple vehicles. And solar power is an elegant solution to the pitfalls of wireless tech. (Which still has plenty of charging solutions in unfavorable conditions.)

I’m a fan. Well done, Tad-Meisters. The Solar Backup System might not be perfect, but it fits RVLife like a glove.

The Best Hitch Camera for RVs and Towing

Hitch-homies, you are not forgotten! I know you’ve had some semi-suitable options…

But I still wanted to bring you the BEST.

Best Hitch Camera

10. TadiBrothers Heavy Duty Hitch Camera Up to 4 Cameras

Best Backup Camera for Hitching and Towable RVs Product Image: TadiBrothers Heavy Duty Hitch Camera Up to 4 Cameras
  • Screen Size: 7”
  • Number of Cameras: 1 (up to 4 possible)

Fifth-wheels vs travel trailers vs pop-up campers vs a rickshaw… If you hitch anything, this is the product for you. Doesn’t matter if it’s tows, boats, or other vehicles, this system has your back!

The magnetic base is built just for that versatility. This feature ensures quick and easy attachment to your hitch area, even when swapping tows or readjusting for trailer positioning. You can move it as needed for perfect visibility when lining up a trailer with no permanent mounting required.

It’s battery-powered with a 300-foot-plus range to enable the most flexibility when towing an RV. The mechanics are all very heavy duty too, well-equipped to give the best protection against the extra hazards of towing.

It is admittedly a high base price for a one-camera system. However, in the case of hitching, that might work for you. Start small, protect your rear, and upgrade your system as you upgrade your rig!

Either way, if you’re living the tow life and are a fan of the TadiBrothers products thus far, here is their quality offering for you. Built for all things hitching, it’s a pricey but life-saving solution. Otherwise, for general backup use, any of the earlier premium cameras will work instead.

Our Verdict

Protect yo’ rear! Your RV’s rump is precious and a bit on the plump side. It needs all the eyes on it that it can get for those tricky reverses.

It was a long list, but let’s simplify. While I’m a big fan of the niche products on this list, my final verdict would be clear. Get the BEST of the best.

If you want a wired unit, buy the TadiBrothers 1080P Three-Camera Rear-View System. It’s the best all-around value out of the box, only lacking the higher-end model’s proximity sensors.

Or on the wireless side of things, I’m actually going to recommend the premium model. The TadiBrothers Rear and Side Camera System, while certainly expensive, it’s damn good value for the near complete clairvoyance it offers If you’re rocking a cumbersome and high-value rig like a Class A, it’s the best camera choice by far.

But, just to finish off, do get protection. RVs were made to be lived in while getting from point A to B. They weren’t made for the awkward positionings we squeeze them into on the regular. (Even though they should be!)

So make your back-ups a breeze. Let there be no more crumpled bumpers. Suit up with the right armor for the road ahead, road warrior.

May our RV’s cabooses stay thick and juicy.
